EgyptAir was founded in 1932 as Misr Airlines, and the company flies to over 70 destinations throughout the world. Although its head office and main hub are in Cairo, it also has many flights originating at Hurghada, Borg el Arab, Luxor and Sharm el-Sheikh International Airports. It has a fleet of 54 planes and a frequent flyer program known as EgyptAir Plus, the benefits of which include upgrades and a greater baggage allowance.
EgyptAir is a member of the Arabesk Airline Alliance with airlines such as Gulf Air and Middle East Airlines, and Arab Air Carriers Organization with Libyan Airlines and Kuwait Airways. EgyptAir flights are also part of the Star Alliance, and it has a codeshare partnership with 20 other airlines to widen the number of destinations it can fly to. It also has a number of subsidiaries namely AirCairo, AirSinai, and EgyptAir Cargo and Express.
